History & Background of Kolej Kediaman Kinabalu (KK8)
Kolej Kediaman Kinabalu (KK8) is the 8th Residential College at Universiti Malaya (UM), located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The college was completed in 1985 and its grand opening ceremony was officially held on 18 December 1987.
Much like the iconic Mount Kinabalu – the highest mountain in Southeast Asia – after which it is named, Kolej Kediaman Kinabalu stands proudly within the Universiti Malaya campus. This name reflects the college's aspiration for its residents to reach for the highest peaks in their academic and personal journeys.
Background & Administration
KK8 is administered by a Principal supported by a team of Fellows. The college is part of the Student Affairs Department (Hal Ehwal Pelajar – HEP) at Universiti Malaya, which oversees all 12 residential colleges accommodating up to 12,000 students.
KK8 falls within Zone 3 of UM's residential college allocation, serving students predominantly from the Faculty of Computer Science & Information Technology (FCSIT), alongside KK5 (Dayasari) and KK10 (Tun Ahmad Zaidi).
